South Charleston-based SecureNet bringing fiber optic internet to Dunbar

A unique partnership will bring state-of-the-art fiber optic lines to Dunbar, West Virginia homes and businesses, and it will also generate revenue for the city. Dunbar and SecureNet, a South Charleston-based internet service provider, have entered into a private and public partnership with the city getting 25% of the subscriber payment, which will initially be used to build out the fiber optic project to the rest of the city's neighborhoods. After it's all built, revenue collected can be allocated for anything the city wants to allocate it for, officials said.
